My name is Paul Edwards, and I intend to stand again as an Independent candidate for Elmdon Ward in Solihull in the 2026 local elections. I have proudly called Solihull home for 47 years. Over that time, I’ve worked hard to contribute to our community, particularly through my background in Health and Social Care. After caring for a family member, I spent over ten years in the health and social care educational sector, gaining valuable experience that shaped my understanding of the challenges local people face.

I am now continuing my professional development by studying to become a CILEX Trainee Paralegal and Chartered Legal Executive, alongside a diploma in Political Science. This combination of legal knowledge and public policy understanding gives me the skills to scrutinise council decisions effectively and advocate for fair, transparent, and accountable local governance.

As an Independent, I answer to you not to a political party, or national agenda. My focus is purely on local priorities that matter to the people of Elmdon.

My Priorities

Community and Care - Strengthen local health and wellbeing services, ensuring support is accessible to everyone who needs it.

Accountability and Transparency - Make council decisions clearer and spending more transparent, with regular updates and open communication.

​

Local Voices First - Ensure residents have a real say in how our ward develops, from planning to public services.

​

If elected, I will hold open monthly surgeries, and provide regular progress updates so you can see what’s being done and what’s next. This campaign is about practical solutions, not political point-scoring. I will work constructively with any councillor or party where it benefits our community and challenge them when it doesn’t.
